Cops what else can I do to protect myself?

If she does this all the time, set up a hidden camera somewhere in the house and try to position yourself so she'll be on camera when she starts to blow up in your face next time. Then call the cops. When she lies, show them the video. Not only will she be arrested for assault (possibly with a deadly weapon) but also will get in more trouble for lying to a law enforcement officer.
